Mets News and Notes: Wright's Uncertainty, Thole, Alderson, Mejia, Familia and Ramirez, Murphy, Chipper Jones vs Mets

Mets News and Notes:

In an exclusive interview with ESPNNewYork.com, David Wright expressed uncertainty about his future with the ballclub. He indicated he wants his next contract to take him to retirement. He also noted he would not be inclined to discuss an extension during next season -- so it's an agreement this offseason or he's headed to free agency.
“The optimism is I’m hopeful,” he said. “It’s well-documented: I’ve really enjoyed my time here. We’ve obviously gone through some tough seasons. I’m not lying. I’ve really enjoyed it. I have a lot of really close friends -- not just players or coaches or anything. Front office. Ownership. Stadium security. Clubhouse attendants. I have really a lot, a lot of close friends that I made in this organization. I enjoy it here. I enjoy New York. I feel like the fans and followers of the team really welcomed me with open arms. They’ve seen the ups and downs, obviously. And they’ve stuck right by me. And I’m appreciative.”

Then again,  Wright said he never has been assured by Fred or Jeff Wilpon that he will remain a Met for life.

Wright recorded his 175th hit of the season on Saturday, the fifth time in his career that he’s reached that total. He’s tied for the most such seasons in Mets history with Jose Reyes, who had five from 2005 to 2011.

Josh Thole was struck in the head with a fourth-inning foul ball off Medlen's bat. Despite initial concerns, Thole appears relatively unscathed. He may have escaped with no more than a cut on the back of his right ear.

Sandy Alderson joined the Mets on Sunday for the final four games of the season. He planned to meet with Terry Collins today or tomorrow in part to discuss the fate of the coaching staff. A team source told Post beat writer Mike Puma it would be surprising for pitching coach Dan Warthen to be dismissed.

Matchup Report:
The Mets come into Citi Field facing the Phillies and Vance Worley. Worley is 3-2 against the Mets , but it has not been easy for him . The current group of Mets that have seen in in the past are collectively batting .311 (23 for 74) with 5 2B's,  2 HR's,  and 11 RBI's. Everyone pretty much on the Mets roster has had some success off Worley except Andres Torres who is batting .125 and Ike Davis who is batting .200.  It will be interesting to see Davis can keep his hot hitting around on this homestand, who has finally reached to .200 mark (50 for 246) .. Davis is batting .333 (7 for 21) in his last 7 games with 5 2B's , 2 HR's, and 8 RBI's..

The Hottest Mets going into this series would have to be Daniel Murphy. Murphy is batting .409 (9 for 22) in his last 7 games with 3 2B's, 3 HR's, and 10 RBI's.. He has only been struckout 1 Time in 22 AB's.

Quick Note: Mets hit .246 at Home this season, while the Opposition has only hit .229 at Citi Field this year!

Let's Go Mets, Stick it to the Phillies!

One big surprise is that Davis Wright's career numbers vs LHP Sabathia are pretty poor at (.222) because he pretty much owns left handed pitching (.343)
