Do Mets Make Big Splash by Spring Training? or Stand Pat with minor improvement?

Would be Big Addition!
The question remains, Do the Mets make big moves in the next couple of weeks under the Wilpon Micro Radar before spring training starts?

Like Can the Mets get SS Stephen Drew for one year? or Will they stay with Ruben Tejada?

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY , Mets' team officials are divided about Drew's value. They would likely consider a one or two-year deal, but nothing more. The feeling is that if Drew is open to taking a short-term deal, he would return to the Red Sox rather than join a new team. Boston is said to have interest in re-signing him but don't appear to be in a rush to get it done. Apparently Lately, Stephen Drew's medicals have not been good, according to Andy Martino of the Daily News, But other reports say he is healthy. I Think One Year Deal Only for him, but probably will go back to Red Sox..

Can the Mets find a taker for Ike Davis?

According to SNY's Mets Hot Stove it's down to the Pirates, Brewers, and Orioles with the Brewers and Orioles in more of the fold. The Mets are holding out for the prospect player or package that will desire them the most. The Mets want young Top Five Pitching Prospects and nobody has flinched. My Guess, Ike will be in spring mix and let them battle it out. It will also showcase Ike and make doubters, believers... According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, Ike Davis does not want to start in the season in NY.

Brewers GM Bob Melvin said he had conversations with Sandy Alderson on MLB.com about first baseman Ike Davis as far back as the General Managers Meetings in November, and met several times at the Winter Meetings a month later. The Mets' price is high -- they asked the Brewers for Tyler Thornburg, and the Orioles for top pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez and the Pirates Nick Kingham. The Brewers would rather trade a position player, perhaps from a stable of outfielders that remains reasonably deep, even with Aoki's departure.

Melvin declined to say whether the Mets' asking price for Davis, who was demoted to Triple-A at one point last season, was higher than expected.
"I don't ever get into that," Melvin said. "Everybody makes the deal that they feel is the best deal for them. I don't ever consider whether asking prices are too high on [trades] or not, because you don't know until after the deal and you've seen players perform.
"I think we've pretty well stood by -- the one thing we've done is we do not want to give up pitching."

So we will see how this all plays out... Maybe mystery team jumps in this Spring?

Mets Rumors: Mets get rejected from Orioles for Ike Davis

Mets Rumors:

Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets have "unsuccessfully tried" to trade Ike Davis to the Orioles for pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is a 20-year-old left-hander that posted a 3.41 ERA with 125 strikeouts over 145 innings between High- and Double-A last season. He was recently ranked by Baseball Prospectus as the club's No. 4 prospect.

Puma notes that the Mets are "still talking" to the Orioles, Brewers and Pirates about Davis.

The Mets have made other attempts to acquire a pitching prospect from the Brewers and Pirates but were also turned down. The Mets asked the Brewers for Tyler Thornburg and have also have asked the Pirates for Nick Kingham.

It comes apparent that teams are not valuing Davis as high as the Mets thought he would be valued, especially when Davis is expected to make around $3.5 Million in 2014.

There is plenty of time before now and spring training and the worst thing that can happen at this point is to let Ike Davis prove his worth in the spring and take it from there..

Mets Rumors: Pirates have interest in First basemen Ike Davis

Mets Rumors:

The New York Mets are still looking for a possible suitor for Ike Davis. Many Mets Fans like myself have been waiting to exhale to see where Ike Davis lands.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have talked to the Mets according to Travis Sawchik of Triblive Sports. The Mets are holding out for a prospect pitcher, in this case they are looking at RHP Nick Kingham who is their ninth best prospect overall. The Pirates also have interest in Texas 1B/DH Mitch Moreland, who according to reports is not being moved at this point. The Pirates want to platoon Davis with veteran 1B Gaby Sanchez

The Milwaukee Brewers are also still in the hunt for a first basemen as well. During the Winter Meetings, it came apparent that it was only a amount of time when Davis was going to become a Brewer. Now that seems uncertain. The Mets wanted pitching prospect RHP Tyler Thornburg from the Brew Crew , but were turned down. The Brewers have plans to use him in their 2014 rotation and make him their fifth starter..

Sandy Alderson suggested he would be looking for an equivalent return to what others have received for trading first basemen. The Marlins got 23-year-old Carter Capps from the Mariners for Logan Morrison last week.

So right now the ball is in the court of the Brewers and Pirates and who will pay for him with a pitching prospect.

Mets Rumors: Does Sandy Alderson Have Something Big .... Up His Sleeve (Updated) ?

Mets Rumors:

Watch the Video, You Decide?

The Mets are ready to strike and have their hands in the BIG Pot for a change. Sounds like the Mets have small moves they could do, but the Mets sound like they have a big deal also in place. Listen to Sandy.. We have options... That Could Mean the Mets will add significant payroll to a budget that has exceeded the Wilpon's Pockets already with SP Bartolo Colon who was added this week...

"I think it's more likely if we come up with a 'high-end' shortstop or someone we like, it's more likely to come in a trade," Alderson told reporters.

Sandy Alderson sounds like a man that has a big play in his hands.. Especially for a shortstop.. or even a outfielder.. The Mets seem they can get a shortstop from the trade market.. but can it get bigger??

Let's Play Devils Advocate for a Minute.. Maybe the Mets can get in a Matt Kemp Deal? or Maybe Be a Piece in a three-way deal to a David Price deal?.... Who the Fuck Knows?

The Mets could look to a handful of teams (Updated) for some answers like the D'Backs, Brewers, Dodgers, Rangers, and even .. Mariners (updated)

Target 1:  (Updated) The Arizona Diamondbacks are rumored to have strong ties to a SP David Price deal according to Matt Cerrone (Hat Tip) of Mets Blog. The Diamondbacks have many shortstops to offer... The D-Backs have shortstops Didi Gregorius, Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed, all of whom are top infield prospects, as well as Cliff Pennington, who is under contract through 2014. The Mets could possibly be involved in a three team trade as been reported and mentioned numerous times on MetsChronicle.com. The D'Backs put Gregorius and A.J. Pollack on the market last year for pitching prospects, maybe the D'Backs look to do the same before spring training ends..
