Rumor Mill: Ken Rosenthal's possible Beltran destinations and other trade-able players

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.com, the Giants, Phillies, Braves are the NL teams showing the strongest interest in Beltran, his sources say.

The Red Sox, who would use Beltran in right field, also are in the mix. The Rangers like Beltran, but the bullpen is their greater priority.

Most of the Beltran talks thus far qualify as preliminary, sources say. The Mets expect to know more about each team’s intent by Monday, and after that they will start weeding out the suitors.

Once the Mets act on Beltran, they can listen more seriously to offers for some of their other players. The team, however, likely will proceed carefully. Club officials do not want to give up on the season entirely.

Rosenthal says the Mets likely will show a greater willingness to move potential free agents such as left-hander Chris Capuano, left-handed reliever Tim Byrdak, outfielder Scott Hairston and utility man Willie Harris.

Rumor Mill: Buster Olney says 5 teams in talks for Carlos Beltran...

Five teams remain in on talks for Carlos Beltran, according to ESPN's Buster Olney

He has the Braves, Giants, Phillies, Red Sox, and yes the Rangers are back in the fold...

Olney says the Braves are the favorite, followed by the Giants.

Rumor Mill: Carlos Beltran Suitors Down to Four?

Jon Heyman of SI.com list the possible suitors for Carlos Beltran at the moment.

Heyman says,
"The Giants, Phillies and Braves look like the front-runners for Carlos Beltran at the moment, with the Brewers another possibility. Milwaukee lost centerfielder Carlos Gomez, a former Met, to injury, and could consider Beltran for centerfield or rightfield, with Corey Hart moving to center. Some are suggesting the Giants already have plenty of outfielders and in early talks with the Mets they've been unwilling to include their top talent (they'd rather pay money; Beltran has about $7 million left on his Mets deal)".

I believe as much as I don't want to, that the Phillies will eventually end up with Beltran even though the Giants could use the offense a little more. The Braves have a lot of underachieving players including McClouth and Uggla , who has been awful this year. They also have some glaring holes in lineup without Chipper and now Dan Uggla who is hurt with a calf injury.

The team that comes out on top of this 4 team race so far will have to pay for his services no doubt.

For the Phillies, it's pure greed and for the Braves and Giants could mean one of moves that can get them through the playoffs
