Mets Rumors: Teams have interest in Bartolo Colon, Matt Kemp on the block too

Mets Rumors:

The Mets may have a suitor for pitcher Bartolo Colon. According to a report by ESPNDeportes.com, the San Francisco Giants have shown an interest in the right-hander.

Colon, 41, has a 4.12 ERA in 19 starts this season and is in the first of a two-year, $20 million deal.

But a report by the New York Post said that deal would only happen if the Mets took on a good portion of the $11 million Colon is owed next season.

Matt Kemp is an intriguing name that could help the Mets. The Mets do need an outfielder that has pop and probably fits best as a corner outfielder since  Juan Lagares is not going anywhere. Considering the $117 million left on Kemp’s deal, the Dodgers will have to eat an awful lot of money to make any trade happen.

Mets Rumors: Does Sandy Alderson Have Something Big .... Up His Sleeve (Updated) ?

Mets Rumors:

Watch the Video, You Decide?

The Mets are ready to strike and have their hands in the BIG Pot for a change. Sounds like the Mets have small moves they could do, but the Mets sound like they have a big deal also in place. Listen to Sandy.. We have options... That Could Mean the Mets will add significant payroll to a budget that has exceeded the Wilpon's Pockets already with SP Bartolo Colon who was added this week...

"I think it's more likely if we come up with a 'high-end' shortstop or someone we like, it's more likely to come in a trade," Alderson told reporters.

Sandy Alderson sounds like a man that has a big play in his hands.. Especially for a shortstop.. or even a outfielder.. The Mets seem they can get a shortstop from the trade market.. but can it get bigger??

Let's Play Devils Advocate for a Minute.. Maybe the Mets can get in a Matt Kemp Deal? or Maybe Be a Piece in a three-way deal to a David Price deal?.... Who the Fuck Knows?

The Mets could look to a handful of teams (Updated) for some answers like the D'Backs, Brewers, Dodgers, Rangers, and even .. Mariners (updated)

Target 1:  (Updated) The Arizona Diamondbacks are rumored to have strong ties to a SP David Price deal according to Matt Cerrone (Hat Tip) of Mets Blog. The Diamondbacks have many shortstops to offer... The D-Backs have shortstops Didi Gregorius, Chris Owings and Nick Ahmed, all of whom are top infield prospects, as well as Cliff Pennington, who is under contract through 2014. The Mets could possibly be involved in a three team trade as been reported and mentioned numerous times on MetsChronicle.com. The D'Backs put Gregorius and A.J. Pollack on the market last year for pitching prospects, maybe the D'Backs look to do the same before spring training ends..

Mets Rumors: Can the Mets Trade for Matt Kemp?

Mets Rumors:

According to Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci, Five teams have emerged as the most serious suitors for Los Angeles Dodgers centerfielder Matt Kemp. The Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and two unidentified National League teams have been mentioned, could one of them be the New York Mets?

The Dodgers are looking for prospects especially at third base which currently they do not have. The Mets can offer Daniel Murphy and/or Wilmer Flores both who would fit the criteria for them. The Mets might have to depart with  Pitching Prospect Rafael Montero in order to get it done..

The Seattle Mariners have been rumored, but they also have connections to Rays Starter David Price who is also on the trading block. The Red Sox say they have interest, but they are content with their outfield and do not expect to make a splash with Kemp. The Tigers don't appear to add more payroll at this point with the subtraction to Prince Fielder, that gave them some financial flexibility.. That could leave the two NL Teams, which one I think is the Padres with 3B Chase Headley and the Mets who have Murphy and Flores to offer (just speculation).

Mets Rumors: Big Changes Ahead for the Mets, Aoki, Peralta, Ethier or Kemp or Granderson..and more

Here comes Aoki for Ike

Mets Rumors:

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post,  the Mets are in for BIG changes in 2014.

He predicts that the Mets trade Ike Davis to Milwaukee for outfielder Norichika Aoki .. Get Free Agent Jhonny Peralta to man SS. And the Mets will  try to pry Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp from the Dodgers to man the outfield. Or even Curtis Granderson to fill the void if needed be. Of course there are backup plans too...

Other scoped things taken from his article:

The Mets are much less likely to chase after top free agents like Shin-Soo Choo and Jacoby Ellsbury than they are to add multiple pieces.

Ike Davis is very likely to be dealt, with Lucas Duda getting an opportunity to play first with Josh Satin. Sherman suggests that a Davis-for-Aoki swap could save the Mets money and create a better fit for New York.

It would save the Mets about $1.5 million in 2014 and provides a .350 on-base percentage leadoff man. That allows them to improve their depth by turning the on-base challenged Eric Young into a super sub/late-game runner/double-switch piece. Aoki's numbers are good...

He says the Mets are going to use next week’s GM Meetings to better gauge Davis’ market.

Jhonny Peralta is definitely on the club's radar, and they could try to sign him early in order to set the tone for the offseason.

Sherman says they are not scared off by his Biogenesis ties. They know he has limited range. But they need offense at the position: Their shortstops had an MLB-low three homers and an NL-low .561 OPS.

If not Peralta, The Sherman suggests the Mets will pursue the trade market that could include the Indians’ Asdrubal Cabrera, the White Sox’s Alexei Ramirez, the Athletics’ Jed Lowrie and — depending on who they go with as their starter — the Diamondbacks’ Didi Gregorius or Chris Owings could be other possiblities..

Noah Syndergaard and Zack Wheeler may well be off limits, the Mets could deal from their other pitching depth, including Rafael Montero.  The Mets could also add Gabriel Ynoa to the mix..

Sherman floats that Terry Collins had Matt Kemp in the Dodgers’ minor leagues and loves him. But his multiple injuries, remaining salary (six years at $128 million) and the fact Los Angeles will still expect a big return makes him a hard buy. The Dodgers might sell low on Ethier to get out of as much of the four years at $71.5 million left as possible. Or the Mets could simply try to buy Curtis Granderson.

Mets Rumors: David Price, Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Giancarlo Stanton, Troy Tulowitzki

Mets Rumors

Nick Carfardo of the Boston Globe says the Mets could entertain a trade offering for Tampa Bay's Ace David Price this off-season. The price tag for his services might not be in the reach of the Mets.. But with the loss of Harvey, the Mets might jump in the kettle with other teams..

Also, the Dodgers are going to make Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp or both available this offseason. Kemp, however, has become labeled with an injury, much like Troy Tulowitzki and Jacoby Ellsbury. But it won’t stop a teams from taking a chance on his talent.

Carfardo also says this off-season Marlins GM Dan Jennings might opt to pull trigger on a Giancarlo Stanton deal. The Marlins are looking for a boatload of prospects. With the Top three Marlin Prospect outfielders Marcell Ozuna, Jake Marisnick, and Christian Yelich ready to play..

The Rockies will listen to a deal for Tulowitzki, but whether they can pull off a deal for a player with such a long contract (about $130 million remaining until 2021) would be the trick.
