Hefner to throw off mound
Right-hander Jeremy Hefner plans to take a major step forward Tuesday in his return from Tommy John surgery.
Hefner, 28, is due to throw roughly 15 pitches off a mound in Port St. Lucie, Fla. It will mark his first time throwing off an incline since undergoing the elbow procedure on Aug. 28.
Hefner re-signed with the Mets on a minor-league contract after being non-tendered in December. He went 4-8 with a 4.34 ERA in 24 appearances (23 starts) last season before landing on the disabled list and then undergoing surgery.
Lannan Reports to Vegas
John Lannan, who accepted an assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas but never reported after being dumped by the Mets on April 16, has rejoined the organization.
The team announced the 29-year-old southpaw has reported to Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Monday to get back into pitching shape.

Jacob deGrom and reliever Jeff Walters were the optioned to the minors Friday morning, reducing the number of players still in camp to 47.
DeGrom, a ninth-round pick out of Stetson in 2010, who mostly played shortstop in college, got a taste of relieving in Thursday's Grapefruit League game. Overall, he posted a 1.23 ERA in 7 1/3 Grapefruit League innings, while allowing four hits and three walks and striking out seven.
Walters, who set Double-A Binghamton single-season and career saves records last season with 38 -- had a 2.45 ERA in four Grapefruit League relief appearances spanning 3 2/3 innings. He allowed three hits and had one strikeout.

The Mets have announced their organization awards, they named first baseman Allan Dykstra and catcher Kevin Plawecki as their co-minor league players of the year. Right-hander Gabriel Ynoa has been named the organization's top pitching performer. Dykstra hit 21 HR's and drove in 82 RBI's, Ynoa won 17 games including two post-season games and had a ERA of 2.72 with 106 K's in 135 innings. Plawecki batted .305 with 80 RBI's.
Those prospects, along with individual level award winners, will be honored during a pregame ceremony at Citi Field on Friday night.
