In case you were wondering, No Jeter History will be made at Citi-Field

In case you were wondering, Derek Jeter will not play against the NY Mets in this three game series. The Yankees' Captain is still rehabbing his right calf down in Florida.

According to CBS Sports, Derek Jeter's final workout in Florida was canceled by rain Friday, but he did spend 30 minutes indoors training, the Associated Press reports. Now, Jeter will begin the second phase of his rehab from a strained right calf.

Next up is a two-game stint with the Double-A Trenton Thunder, with Jeter expected to return to the Yankees on Monday. Jeter is six hits away from 3,000 for his career but at this point would need a scorching series in Cleveland to reach the milestone on the road.

The odds are that Jeter gets his 3,000th hit at home at some point from Thursday through Sunday against the Rays in the final four games prior to the All-Star break.

Cashman Rejects Reyes for Yankees

Jose Reyes going to the cross town rival Yankees is out of the scenario. Brian Cashman put an end to the speculation last night. "That's just not going to happen," he said. Cashman gave a vote of confidence to Derek Jeter and the backup, Eduardo Nunez, who is filling in admirably for him while he works to return from the injured right calf that landed him on the 15-day disabled list. "We have an everyday shortstop in Derek Jeter," said Cashman. ... "But we do need a setup man." When Cashman means "everyday shortstop" does he mean 2 days off and a game batting in the DH spot?
