Free Agent Left handed Relievers on the board for the Mets

The Mets have a glaring hole to fill in the bullpen with Pedro Feliciano and Hisanori Takahashi departing to other teams. They could definitely use a lefty specialist.

The problem with the Mets right now is the financial flexibility they have to fill such roles. They only have 5 Million in wiggle room to find a reliever and a starter. The Mets will continuously monitor the market for the pitchers that are left on the board..

Left handed relievers that are left include - Joe Beimel, Brian Burres, Tim Byrdak, Bruce Chen, Randy Flores, Brian Fuentes, Mark Hendrickson, Ron Mahay, Will Ohman, Dennys Reyes, Scott Schoeneweis, Bobby Seay, Taylor Tankersley.

Out of that group there have been many reports that the Mets are targeting Joe Beimel, Ron Mahay, and Will Ohman. Adam Rubin of ESPN, has floated the names of  Tom Byrdak and  Randy Flores as possibilities for the Mets.

Brian Fuentes has been linked to the Mets, but seems to be trying to find a closing job or a multi-year deal. So like I posted, "forget it"..

What's all the Brian Fuentes hype about??

Some Mets Fans want Brian Fuentes and yes, he is available. The Red Sox, Rays, Yankees and Twins are among the many teams interested in him, according to sources close to Ken Rosenthal. Even though the Mets was mentioned as one of the 11 teams interested in him originally. The Mets are not going to get him, so why is it even been mentioned.

The Mets are not getting into a bidding war with the powers of AL East and/or the Twins.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports:

Problem is he is too pricey.

Fuentes wants more than $5 million per season on a multi year deal, several execs say. Those terms are affordable for a closer, high for a setup man and exorbitant for a specialist.
