Young pushed back two days because of bicep tendonitis

Mets starting pitcher Chris Young has developed a case of biceps tendonitis in his right arm, the Mets said, and his next scheduled start has been pushed back two days until Sunday in Atlanta.

Manager Terry Collins said Young, who has pitched very well in his first two starts as a Met, told him the injury is not serious and that he could have pitched Friday if necessary. But Young had surgery on his shoulder in 2009 and made only four starts in 2010, so any injury in the general area needs to be handled cautiously.

Collins also said doctors believed Young did not require a magnetic resonance imaging test.

D.J. Carrasco will likely start Friday, unless he is used extensively in relief in Thursday’s doubleheader.
