According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, Terry Collins said on Friday that Omar Quintanilla would make the team as the backup shortstop over Anthony Seratelli.
Collins said Seratelli could be valuable as a switch-hitter who could man multiple positions. However, the 31-year-old Seratelli struggled at shortstop during Grapefruit League play while batting .213 in 47 at-bats.

The Mets are expected to start Bartolo Colon on Saturday and Jenrry Mejia on Sunday in Las Vegas, when they play a pair of split-squad exhibition games against the Chicago Cubs.
David Wright, Curtis Granderson, Travis d'Arnaud, Bobby Parnell, Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores, Omar Quintanilla, Jacob deGrom, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Kevin Plawecki, Anthony Seratelli and Eric Campbell are among the other players expected to make the trip.
The Mets are partly playing in Vegas to support their Triple-A affiliate, although the primary reason is the big-league club is turning a profit on the trip.
The remainder of the Mets will remain in Florida for split-squad games Saturday against the Twins in Port St. Lucie and Sunday against the Cardinals in Jupiter.
