Collin Cowgill smacked a pinch-hit two-run homer off St. Louis starter Jake Westbrook.

Mets third baseman David Wright went 0-for-3 in his return from a strained left intercostal muscle.

Matt Harvey started for New York and tossed four scoreless innings.

Adron Chambers hit a two-run double for the Cardinals.

Recap:
Adam LaRoche and Danny Espinosa hit solo homers as part of a four-run second inning in the Washington Nationals' 5-1 win over the New York Mets.

Gio Gonzalez fanned seven and surrendered just a hit and two walks over four scoreless frames for the Nationals, who got RBIs from Denard Span and Bryce Harper.

Anthony Recker had the lone RBI, while Domingo Tapia allowed four runs -- three earned -- on four hits and two walks over two innings for New York.

Mets only collected two hits, one of those hits was by Daniel Murphy who went 1for 3 in his return back to game action....

Houston starter Edgar Gonzalez gave up three runs on four hits in three frames.

The Astros were limited to three hits.

Recap:
Pete Kozma clubbed a grand slam during a six-run fourth inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals blasted the New York Mets, 11-4, on Tuesday.

Yadier Molina added a two-run homer and Rob Johnson supplied a solo shot in the ninth for St. Louis, which received six strong innings from starter Adam Wainwright.

The right-hander struck out three and allowed just two runs on seven hits, improving to 4-1 during spring training play.

New York starter Jeremy Hefner pitched three innings before a Carlos Beltran comebacker struck him on the elbow, forcing him from the game. He allowed two runs on five hits.

Lucas Duda was a productive 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI in the setback.

Andrew Brown hit a two-run homer and Collin Cowgill homered and drove in a pair of runs to lead the New York Mets to a 7-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

Jamie Hoffman also had a solo homer and Omar Quintanilla added an RBI for the Mets, who saw starter Dillon Gee give up two hits and strike out seven over six scoreless innings.

Justin Upton and Jason Heyward hit solo homers for the Braves. Starter Mike Minor allowed five runs on six hits -- three homers -- over five innings to absorb the loss.

Justin Turner collected three hits and scored twice, while Ike Davis, Cory Vaughn and Matthew Reynolds recorded an RBI apiece for the Mets.

Recap:
Lucas Duda's fourth home run of the spring broke a tie game in the seventh inning and sent the New York Mets to a 3-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday.

Travis d'Arnaud provided an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI single and Zach Lutz plated New York's other run. Rafael Montero struck out three over 4 2/3 scoreless innings of work and Brandon Lyon locked down the save in the ninth.

Francisco Soriano had an RBI single to plate Washington's only run. Starter Gio Gonzalez was strong over six innings, surrendering four hits and one run while striking out three.

Andrew Brown delivered a tie-breaking RBI single in the top of the eighth inning as the New York Mets posted a 5-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves in a spring-training clash.

Jamie Hoffmann and Jordany Valdespin each drove in runs in the ninth to give the Mets some insurance, with Lucas Duda slugging a solo homer earlier in the day for New York.

Aaron Laffey tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings to notch the win for the Mets, who also received a solid five-inning stint from Jeremy Hefner. The right-hander struck out seven Atlanta hitters while yielding two runs on five hits.

Tim Hudson worked the first six frames for Atlanta and limited New York to a pair of runs on five hits.

Juan Francisco and Freddie Freeman each had solo homers off Hefner to account for Atlanta's two runs, with B.J. Upton going 2-for-3 in the loss.

Shaun Marcum is making a nice impression with the New York Mets.

Making his third of the spring, Marcum allowed only one hit and didn't walk anyone in 3 2-3 innings Sunday as the Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-0.

Marcum and six relievers combined to give up just three hits.

"We pitched very well today," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "It starts with Shaun. Shaun made pitch after pitch and later in the game the relievers did, too."

Shane Robinson appeared to be fooled by an offering from Marcum in the second inning but still managed to stroke the lone hit off him, keeping the ball inside the left-field line.

"As far as mechanics and everything, which has been my main focus the last couple bullpens and today's start, everything felt a lot better," Marcum said.

The Mets scored in the eighth when Travis d'Arnaud drew a walk from Edward Mujica, moved up on a wild pitch and later came home on Jordany Valdespin's single.

Jamie Hoffman hit a two-run double in the ninth.

Recap:
Lucas Duda and John Buck drove in two runs each and Ike Davis scored three times Saturday as the New York Mets beat the Houston Astros 9-6.

Duda went 3 for 3 with a double, while Buck had two hits and increased his spring training RBIs total to seven. Davis was 2 for 2 with a walk, stolen base and a RBI.

Houston's Carlos Pena hit a two-run homer in the fourth.

Mets starter Jeremy Hefner allowed one hit in three scoreless innings. Astros starter Alex White gave up four runs and five hits in 2 2-3 innings.
