The New York Mets have had multiple rumors centered around the Pirates INF/OF Josh Harrison. The Blue Jays and Yankees also have interest and could cause some friction for the Mets.

Many have speculated that Matt Harvey might be on his way to the Pirates in the deal if they trade with the Mets. This will offset the full $10 Mil owed to $5 Million (Harvey expected to make in Arbitration). I'm sure Wilmer Flores, Juan Lagares' name has also been mentioned as likely candidates in a trade as well as AJ Ramos, who will make $9 Million in 2018.

The Yankees also have interest in starting pitcher Gerrit Cole, so maybe the Yanks can get both him and Harrison if they give up the right amount of prospects or maybe they could just settle on Cole. The Yankees have prospects Clint Frazier, Chance Adams, and Miguel Andujar to dangle. The Yankees need for a 2B/3B and a starting pitcher match up well here.

The Blue Jays have floated the idea of upgrading at 2b, but their two top prospects Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are off the board. unless the Pirates settle for second tier prospects. Plus, the Jays have Josh Donaldson at 3B and Devon Travis at 2B for now.

It looks as though it might be the Yankees or Mets he might get traded to. The Yankees have the chance to make it a bigger trade if they want or could settle for just for Cole and sign Todd Frazier back (who is ready for the call).

In terms of the money, Harrison is not exactly cheap. But by trading someone with monetary value back makes sense if the Mets look to save money. Harrison this year he is on the books for $10 million with a team option for the next two years for $10.5 and $11 million respectively.  Both of those options include a $1 million buyout.
