Minor-league right-hander Jacob Rhame is the player to be named in the Friday trade that sent Curtis Granderson to the Dodgers, the Mets announced. Rhame, 24, fits the mold of the hard-throwing relievers the Mets have acquired in bulk during a flurry of trades during the last three weeks.

A sixth-rounder in the 2013 draft, Rhame was 0-2 with two saves and a 4.31 ERA for Triple-A Oklahoma City in the Pacific Coast League. The Mets assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas. According to scouts, Rhame has touched 98 mph with his fastball. His secondary offerings are described as “fringe,” though his slider could develop into a worthy complement.

Rival evaluators see Rhame eventually becoming a seventh- or eighth-inning reliever in the big leagues. One scout called him “an up/down guy next year with the hope of a consistent setup guy later.”
