Mets Minor League Roundup 5/17: Mora's RBI Double In 10th Pushes St. Lucie Past Lakeland

Mets AAA - Iowa 5, Las Vegas 4: Victor Caratini, Taylor Davis and Elliot Soto each had three hits, as the Iowa Cubs beat the Las Vegas 51s 5-4 on Wednesday. David Rollins got Josh Rodriguez to ground out with a runner on third to end the game for his second save of the season. Davis doubled and singled twice, driving in two runs. Iowa started the scoring in the second inning when Davis hit a two-run double and Jemile Weeks scored on a sacrifice. Trailing 5-2, the 51s cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Amed Rosario hit an RBI single, bringing home Gavin Cecchini. The 51s saw their comeback attempt come up short after Brandon Nimmo hit an RBI double, scoring Cecchini in the ninth inning to cut the Iowa lead to 5-4. Iowa right-hander Casey Kelly (1-0) picked up the win after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Wilfredo Boscan (0-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after allowing five runs and seven hits over 2 1/3 innings. For the 51s, Cecchini doubled and singled three times, scoring two runs. BOX

Mets AA - Altoona 8, Binghamton 6: Pinch-hitter Jordan Luplow hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning, leading the Altoona Curve to an 8-6 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Wednesday. The home run by Luplow scored Elvis Escobar and was the game's last scoring play. Champ Stuart hit an RBI single in the second inning to help give the Rumble Ponies a 3-0 lead. The Curve came back to take a 6-3 lead in the seventh inning when they crossed the plate for three runs, including a single by Kevin Newman that scored Escobar. Binghamton tied the game 6-6 in the seventh when Kevin Taylor hit an RBI single, bringing home Luis Guillorme. Buddy Borden (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Tim Peterson (1-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game. Montana DuRapau retired the side in order for his seventh save of the season. BOX

Mets A (ADV) - St. Lucie 3, Lakeland 2: John Mora hit an RBI double in the top of the 10th inning to lead the St. Lucie Mets to a 3-2 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Wednesday. Enmanuel Zabala scored the go-ahead run on the double after he reached base with two outs on a walk. Johnny Magliozzi got Ben Verlander to hit into a double play with a runner on first to end the game for his third save of the season. Reliever Justin Dunn (2-3) went five innings, allowing one run and three hits to pick up the win. He also struck out five and walked three. Zac Reininger (1-1) went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run and one hit in the Florida State League game. He also struck out two and walked one. J.C. Rodriguez tripled and singled in the win. St. Lucie improved to 6-3 against Lakeland this season. BOX
