Mets Minor League Roundup 4/16: Rivera homers in Vegas win

Image result for tj riveraMets AAA - Las Vegas 6, Sacramento 4: T.J. Rivera homered and had two hits as the Las Vegas 51s defeated the Sacramento River Cats 6-4 on Sunday. Las Vegas took the lead in the first when it put up three runs, including a single by Josh Rodriguez that scored Amed Rosario. After Las Vegas added a run in the third on a home run by Rivera, the River Cats cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Orlando Calixte hit a two-run home run. The 51s later tacked on two runs in the fifth when Dominic Smith scored on an error and Rivera scored on a wild pitch to secure the victory. Sacramento saw its comeback attempt come up short after Kyle Blanks hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to cut the Las Vegas lead to 6-4. Las Vegas starter Adam Wilk (2-1) picked up the win despite allowing three runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Ricky Romero (0-1) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and eight hits over 4 1/3 innings. Chasen Bradford retired the side in order for his third save of the season. BOX

Mets A (ADV) - Florida 10, St.Lucie 1: Wigberto Nevarez had two hits and scored two runs, as the Florida Fire Frogs exploded for a season-high in runs in a 10-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Sunday. Florida started the scoring in the first inning when Jonathan Morales hit an RBI single to score Tyler Neslony. After Florida added three runs in the second, the Mets cut into the deficit in the second inning when Enmanuel Zabala hit an RBI single, bringing home Nick Sergakis. The Fire Frogs later scored in three additional innings to put the game away, including three runs in the seventh. Florida left-hander Luiz Gohara (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Joe Shaw (0-1) took the loss in the Florida State League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and 10 hits over three innings. Florida took advantage of some erratic St. Lucie pitching, drawing a season-high seven walks in its victory. BOX



Mets A - Augusta 7, Columbia 6: Manuel Geraldo hit a walk-off single with two outs in the ninth inning, as the Augusta GreenJackets topped the Columbia Fireflies 7-6 on Sunday. Kelvin Beltre scored the game-winning run after he hit an RBI single and advanced to third on a single by Skyler Ewing. The single by Geraldo capped an improbable comeback for the GreenJackets, who scored five runs in the inning for the win. Sandro Fabian hit a two-run single earlier in the inning to help set the stage for the game-winning score. After Columbia's Tim Tebow hit a two-run single in the top of the eighth, Augusta cut the deficit to 6-2 in the bottom of the inning when Ewing hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Fabian. Matt Pope (1-0) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Joseph Zanghi (0-1) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game. Despite the loss, Columbia is 6-2 against Augusta this season. BOX
