Mets Minor League Roundup 9/2: St. Lucie's Thompson Homers Twice In Win

Mets AAA - LAS VEGAS 5, SALT LAKE 4: Matt Reynolds hit a run-scoring double in the eighth inning, leading the Las Vegas 51s to a 5-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Friday. Paul Sewald got Johnny Giavotella to fly out with runners on first and second to end the game for his 19th save of the season. T.J. Rivera scored on Reynolds' double after he was hit with a pitch to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a single by Roger Bernadina. Reynolds hit a two-run single in the second inning to give the 51s a 2-0 lead. The Bees came back to take the lead in the second inning when Jose Briceno hit a two-run double and then scored on a single by Tim Arakawa. Las Vegas tied the game 4-4 in the seventh when Brandon Nimmo hit a two-run single. Jeff Walters (4-3) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while Geoff Broussard (2-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game. Arakawa tripled and singled, driving in two runs for the Bees. Las Vegas improved to 10-3 against Salt Lake this season. BOX

Mets AA - ERIE 2, BINGHAMTON 0: Ruben Alaniz got Maikis De La Cruz to ground out with the bases loaded to end the game, leading the Erie SeaWolves to a 2-0 win over the Binghamton Mets on Friday. Erie starter Tyler Alexander (2-1) went six scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out five and walking three to get the win. Nabil Crismatt (0-1) went six innings, allowing one run and five hits to take the hard-luck loss in the Eastern League game. He also struck out seven and walked one. Erie scored its runs when Christin Stewart hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Kody Eaves hit an RBI single in the seventh. Jayce Boyd doubled and singled for the Mets. Binghamton was blanked for the 10th time this season, while the Erie staff recorded its sixth shutout of the year. BOX



Mets High A - ST. LUCIE 9, JUPITER 2: David Thompson homered twice and had three hits, and P.J. Conlon threw five scoreless innings as the St. Lucie Mets beat the Jupiter Hammerheads 9-2 on Friday. Conlon (4-1) allowed one hit while striking out seven and walking three to pick up the win. Up 1-0 in the second, St. Lucie extended its lead when it scored three runs, including an RBI triple by John Mora and an RBI double by Jhoan Urena. The Mets later added a run in the seventh and four in the eighth to put the game away. Jorgan Cavanerio (8-12) went one inning, allowing four runs and five hits in the Florida State League game. BOX

Mets Low A (SS) - BROOKLYN 11, ABERDEEN 1: Michael Paez had four hits and scored two runs, and Merandy Gonzalez allowed just two hits over 6 2/3 innings as the Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds 11-1 on Friday. Gonzalez (6-3) allowed one run while striking out eight and walking two to get the win. Brooklyn started the scoring in the first inning when Colby Woodmansee and Blake Tiberi hit RBI singles. The IronBirds cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Preston Palmeiro scored on a ground out. Brooklyn later scored in three additional innings, including a seven-run eighth, when Desmond Lindsay hit a two-run single to help put the game out of reach. Matthias Dietz (0-3) went three innings, allowing two runs and four hits while striking out one in the New York-Penn League game. BOX
