Preview:

After a poor start to their homestand, the Los Angeles Dodgers have a chance to finish it with some considerable momentum and have Hanley Ramirez contribute.

With Ramirez potentially returning from the disabled list, the Dodgers seek a fourth consecutive win while continuing their dominance over the New York Mets with a three-game sweep Sunday.

Los Angeles (74-57) was swept by Milwaukee in the first three of its nine consecutive games at Dodger Stadium but has bounced back to win four of five after a 7-4 victory Saturday.

Adrian Gonzalez matched a season high with five RBIs and hit his first homer in 13 games. The win, coupled with San Francisco's loss in

Washington, pushed the Dodgers 4 1/2 games ahead in the NL West.

Los Angeles will try to pad that advantage while earning its seventh win in a row at home over the Mets (60-70) and 14th in 16 games against them overall. The Dodgers haven't won seven straight home games against New York, loser in eight of 11, since an eight-game streak in 1979-80.

They could get some help from Ramirez, who hasn't played since Aug. 8 because of a strained right oblique. He was batting .333 with six RBIs in his first eight games this month, raising his average to .277.

Kevin Correia will start on his 34th birthday and move the Dodgers a season-high 18 games above .500 while earning his third win in as many starts with the club. The veteran right-hander, acquired from Minnesota on Aug. 10, wasn't as sharp Tuesday against San Diego as he was in his debut with Los Angeles, but he got enough support for an 8-6 victory.

Correia (2-0, 4.09 ERA) was charged with four runs -- three on Jedd Gyorko's first-inning homer -- and eight hits in five innings after yielding one run and four hits in six innings in a 6-2 win in Atlanta on Aug. 11. He is 2-4 with a 4.40 ERA in seven career starts against the Mets and facing them for the first time since a 6-5 road loss for Pittsburgh on Sept. 27, 2012.

In this matchup, he'll pitch opposite a grieving Bartolo Colon (11-10, 3.85). The right-hander was scratched from his latest start and flew home to the Dominican Republic to be with his mother, who passed away Monday.

Colon is expected to return to his native country for her funeral after this start, which might also be his last for the Mets. He was reportedly placed on revocable waivers this week and that could lead to a potential trade.

Colon has allowed three runs in 15 innings in splitting his past two starts. He gave up two in seven innings in a 3-2 defeat to Washington on Aug. 13.

Colon is facing the Dodgers for the first time since a 6-1 loss for the Los Angeles Angels in 2006, and is 1-4 with a 6.61 ERA in five career matchups.

Along with Ramirez, the Dodgers could get Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner back in the lineup. Puig, batting .217 in his last 17 games, was given a night off Saturday to rest his legs.

Turner was 9 for 20 with four extra-base hits and five RBIs in six games before sitting Saturday.
