Mets Minor League Roundup 7/1: Syndergaard gets pounded, but Vegas picks up victory in 10 innings

Mets Minor League Roundup 7/1:

Mets AAA - LAS VEGAS 9, SALT LAKE 8 (10 innings): Noah Syndergaard allowed five runs on 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings as his ERA swelled to 5.70. Josh Satin (2-for-6) delivered a walk-off two-run single to left field with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 10th. Salt Lake had built a 5-0 lead and led 7-3 in the eighth. Las Vegas then rallied for three runs in the eighth and tied the score at 7 in the ninth on a run-scoring infield by Danny Muno (2-for-3, 2 RBIs). Ian Stewart (3-for-5, double) hit a solo homer in the top of the 10th against Buddy Carlyle to give Salt Lake an 8-7 lead. Las Vegas became the first Triple-A team to 50 wins. Box

Mets AA - NEW BRITAIN 9, BINGHAMTON 6: New Britain tagged Hansel Robles for a season-high eight runs in three innings, including five in the first. Dustin Lawley launched two homers in the defeat. He deposited a 2-1 pitch from New Britain starter Jason Wheeler over the left-field wall in the second inning, cutting New Britain’s lead to four. He struck again in the fourth with another solo blast, his third homer in three at-bats dating to Monday. New Britain kept up the pressure in the fourth by getting the first five batters safely aboard. After Mike Kvasnicka blasted a two-run homer, Robles loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a single. Reliever Ryan Fraser entered and collected the final three outs of the inning, while allowing one inherited runner to score. Trailing by six in the sixth, Jayce Boyd bounced an RBI triple off the right-center wall for his first three-bagger of the season. The B-Mets plated two more in the eighth, on RBI singles from Brian Burgamy and Brandon Nimmo. Box

Mets High A - ST. LUCIE 6, CHARLOTTE 4: St. Lucie scored five runs over the final two innings for the come-from-behind win. Trailing 4-3 entering the ninth, Gavin Cecchini flied out and Phillip Evans grounded out to open the inning. Maikis De La Cruz then singled and Jeff McNeil walked. Eudy Pina followed with a game-tying RBI single. Gilbert Gomez then produced a two-run double. Paul Sewald stranded two baserunners in scoring position and earned his fourth save in the bottom half by getting Tyler Goeddel to fly out. Starter Cory Mazzoni, continuing to work back from a spring-training lat strain, allowed two runs in five innings. Box

Mets A - SAVANNAH 9, CHARLESTON 8: After usually invincible Akeel Morris allowed a three-run homer to Gosuke Katoh in the top of the ninth, Savannah answered with three runs in the bottom half for the walk-off win. Following Charleston errors that allowed two runs to score, Victor Cruzado eventually walked with the bases loaded as the winning run trotted home. 2013 first-round pick Dominic Smith finished 4-for-4 with a walk. Morris had allowed only one run in 36 2/3 innings this season before the three-run ninth by Charleston. Cruzado also contributed a two-run homer in the second inning. Box

Mets A - SS - GREENEVILLE 4, KINGSPORT 3: The K-Mets fought back from a 4-0 deficit, getting an RBI single from Wuilmer Becerra in the sixth and a two-run single from Pedro Perez in the seventh. However, Kingsport stranded Eudor Garcia on second base as the potential tying run in the seventh when Jose Figuera struck out and Jose Garcia grounded out. Box

Mets A - SS - HUDSON VALLEY 8, BROOKLYN 6: Starter Alberto Baldonado allowed five runs on three hits and three walks in three innings. Hudson Valley added two runs in the fourth against Brandon Welch to take a 7-4 lead. The Cyclones pulled within a run in the fifth on Michael Katz's sacrifice fly and Michael Bernal's run-scoring double. Bernal was stranded at third base that inning when reliever Isaac Gil entered and struck out Tyler Moore. Jeffrey Diehl earlier contributed a three-run homer. Box

Mets RK - GCL NATIONALS 1, GCL METS 0 (suspended): The game was suspended in the bottom of the first. Mets starter Eucebio Arias had allowed a run in the top half. Box
