Mets News and Notes: Lagares to play rehab games soon, Gee getting rehab start Tuesday?
Lagares to play rehab games soon
Terry Collins told ESPN he expects outfielder Juan Lagares to enter a rehab game "soon."
Lagares has been batting in simulated games in Port St. Lucie, Fla., this week, according to the manager.
He has been on the disabled list since June 2 with an intercostal strain on his right side.
Gee getting rehab start Tuesday?
The Mets are eyeing Tuesday for Dillon Gee to make his first minor-league appearance since landing on the disabled list on May 11 with a strained right lat muscle. The rehab start would occur in the Gulf Coast League.
Gee, who has been working out 120 miles north in Port St. Lucie, Fla., visited the Mets on Thursday at Marlins Park along with fellow rehabbing pitchers Matt Harvey and Bobby Parnell.
Gee threw a 50-pitch bullpen session for pitching coach Dan Warthen. It marked the right-hander's second time throwing off a mound since the injury.
