Mets News and Notes: d'Arnaud to return against A's, Nieuwenhuis back with big club

Mets News and Notes:

d'Arnaud Return
The Mets tentatively plan to promote Travis d'Arnaud to the major league club during next week's June 24-25 series against the Oakland Athletics at Citi Field, according to ESPN.

D'Arnaud is hitting .410 with five homers and 12 RBIs in 39 at-bats since his June 7 demotion.

By keeping d'Arnaud in the minors less than 20 days, d'Arnaud's option will be rescinded -- meaning he will retain the option to be used during the 2015 season or beyond, if the club desires to demote him again.

D'Arnaud was hitting .180 with three homers and nine RBIs in 128 at-bats when he was dispatched to Las Vegas.

Nieuwenhuis back with big club
The Mets demoted Matt den Dekker to Triple-A Las Vegas after Wednesday's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Fellow lefty-hitting outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis will join the Mets for Thursday's series opener in Miami.

Den Dekker batted .156 (7-for-45) with one RBI in 17 games.

Nieuwenhuis is hitting .272 with 10 homers and 28 RBIs in 180 at-bats with Vegas. He has produced four multi-hit games in his past five starts with the Pacific Coast League club.
