Mets Minor League Roundup 6/24: Vegas squeezes by Memphis, Peavey Pitches Six Shutout Innings for Binghamton

Mets Minor League Roundup 6/24:

Mets AAA - LAS VEGAS 10, MEMPHIS 8: Center-fielder Cory Vaughn drove home right-fielder Andrew Brown with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning for what turned out to be the game-winning run. Brown, shortstop Matt Reynolds and catcher Juan Centeno had two hits apiece, and Matt den Dekker had a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the seventh. Starter Darin Gorski lasted just three innings, giving up six runs on six hits but only two of those runs were earned. Box

Mets AA - BINGHAMTON 2, READING 0: Juan Lagares went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his second rehab game with the B-Mets, and played all nine innings in center field. Left-fielder Brandon Nimmo drove in both runs with his first homer since being promoted to Double-A. Greg Peavey got the win, pitching six shutout innings and allowing just four hits. Box

Mets High A - JUPITER 6, ST. LUCIE 4: Second baseman L.J. Mazilli hit his second home run of the season in a losing effort, and right-fielder Eudy Pina went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Starter Luis Cessa took the loss, giving up six runs on 10 hits in five innings. Box

Mets A - CHARLESTON 6, SAVANNAH 1: In Game 1 of a doubleheader, starter Ricky Knapp took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings. Shortstop Yeixon Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a triple, and first baseman Dominic Smith also had two hits. Box

Mets A - SAVANNAH 2, CHARLESTON 0: In Game 2, three Sand Gnats pitchers -- Dario Alvarez, Hunter Carnevale and Akeel Morris -- combined to pitch a seven-inning, two-hit shutout. Alvarez started and struck out 10 batters in 4 1/3 innings, walking just one. First baseman Matt Oberste went 2-for-3 and scored both runs. Box

Mets A - SS - KINGSPORT 6, BLUEFIELD 5: Right fielder Wuilmer Becerra singled home first baseman Pedro Perez for the winning run in the bottom of the ninth -- each had two hits on the night. Martires Arias got the win in relief, pitching three innings, and giving up one unearned run on one hit, with six strikeouts and one walk. Box

Mets A - SS - HUDSON VALLEY 6, BROOKLYN 3: Alberto Baldonado took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings. On the bright side, shortstop Amed Rosario went 3-for-4, with three singles. Box

Mets Rookie - GCL METS 17, GCL CARDINALS 2: Lefty Blake Taylor, the recently announced "player to be named later" the Mets acquired in the Ike Davis trade, made his Mets debut and was impressive. Taylor pitched four shutout innings, allowing just one hit, with seven strikeouts (and three walks). Shortstop Milton Ramos, the Mets' third-round pick in this year's draft, notched his first professional hit. Box
