Mets News: Mets will Promote Wilmer Flores, DFA Omar Quintanilla


Mets News:


Wilmer Flores will be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas, taking the roster spot that had belonged to Omar Quintanilla, who was DFA'd on Wed.  He is expected to share time with Ruben Tejada at Shortstop.

Flores has committed seven errors and has a .941 fielding percentage in 24 games at shortstop with Las Vegas through Tuesday.

The Mets need offense, They will enter the weekend series at Citi Field against the Philadelphia Phillies on a 23-inning scoreless drought, their longest since 2010. Mets shortstops this season have combined to hit .194 with no homers and nine RBIs in 103 at-bats.

Flores is Batting .307 with 5 HR's and 25 RBI's for Triple-A Vegas.
