Mets News: Mets Resculpting Pitching Staff (Updated) - Montero, deGrom, Mejia to get new roles..

Mets News:

Rafael Montero is due to join the Mets for the Subway Series and will start Wednesday, Sandy Alderson told ESPN NY.

This year, he is 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA in eight starts for the 51s. He tossed 5 1/3 no-hit innings in his last Triple-A start.

Jenrry Mejia will move to the bullpen.

Also, Jacob deGrom was scratched from Monday's Las Vegas start. He will be called up Tuesday and Gonzalez Germen was placed on the 15 day DL with a virus. DeGrom will work out of the bullpen.

DeGrom, 25, is 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA in seven Triple-A starts this season. His fastball typically sits at 91-94 mph. The sinker is complemented by a slider and a changeup.

Mets will probably make another move on Wednesday, as speculated the casualty could be Jose Valverde.
