Mets Minor League Roundup 5/13: Vegas Rallies in 10th, Plawecki Extends Hitting Streak
Mets AAA - LAS VEGAS 5, TACOMA 4 (10 innings): Designated hitter Allan Dykstra and third baseman Zach Lutz drove in runs as the 51s rallied in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat the Rainiers. Tacoma had tied the game in the ninth inning off Vic Black (who walked two in the inning), and the Rainiers took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th on a Jesus Montero single off Jeff Walters. Las Vegas starter Logan Verrett only two unearned runs in 7 1/3 innings. Center fielder Matt den Dekker homered for the 51s. Box.
Mets AA - ALTOONA 10, BINGHAMTON 3: Starter Hansel Robles allowed seven runs and didn't make it out of the third inning for the B-Mets. Robles allowed three home runs, all in the third inning, as the Curve batted around. Dustin Lawley homered for Binghamton. Lawley, Matt Reynolds and Travis Taijeron each had two hits. Kevin Plawecki extended his hitting streak to nine games. Box.
Mets High A - TAMPA 7, ST. LUCIE 2: Down 2-1 with two out in the ninth, the Tampa Yankees rallied for six runs to beat the Mets. St. Lucie closer Beck Wheeler, who walked four, allowed three hits and threw a wild pitch, was charged with all six runs. Wheeler entered the game with a 12-inning scoreless streak. The Mets scored their two runs on a wild pitch and an error. First baseman Jairo Perez had three of the Mets' seven hits. Starter Steven Matz allowed one run in five innings, and Seth Lugo contributed three scoreless innings before it all fell apart in the ninth. Box.
Mets A - SAVANNAH 8, CHARLESTON 4: Down 4-0 after six innings, the Sand Gnats rallied to take the lead with a five-run seventh and then added three more in the eighth. Colton Plaia had a two-run single in the seventh, and Savannah benefitted from five walks, two wild pitches and an error in those two innings alone. Patrick Biondi had three of Savannah's eight hits. The big rally took Savannah starter Ricky Knapp off the hook for a loss. Knapp allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings. Robert Coles got the final eight outs for his eighth save. Box.
