Mets News: Mets finally have made an official rehab agreement with Matt Harvey
Sandy Alderson made an official statement about Matt Harvey's rehab location...
The Mets and Matt Harvey had settled on a split-rehab program between New York and Port St. Lucie for the first two months of the season.
Harvey, who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, will rehab with the Mets during their homestands at Citi Field, but will return to Florida when the team is on the road.
Starting June 1, when Harvey ramps up his throwing sessions, Alderson said the pitcher will remain at the spring training complex on more of a full-time basis, with "occasional trips" back to New York.
The location of his rehab had become an issue of late. The Mets usual protocol involves players spending the majority of their time in Port St. Lucie. But Harvey, who lives in Manhattan, was not on board with that, and had the collective-bargaining agreement to back him up.
According to MLB's Collective Bargaining Agreement, teams can only require a player to rehab at their spring training complex for a maximum of 20 days without their written consent. Harvey expressed his desire to be with the Mets in New York, and that prompted team officials to work out a compromise.
