Mets News: John Lannan makes team as a reliever
As talked about, John Lannan will make the team on the Opening Day roster as a reliever.
Lannan, originally signed on a minor-league contract, was added to the 40-man roster Thursday as the Mets prepared to break camp and depart for Montreal for a pair of exhibition games against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Lannan has never broke camp as a reliever. In 148 games as a professional, he has logged all his games as a starter. He did some limited duty in the minors as a reliever.
Lannan had a ERA of 4.91 this spring in which he started and relieved some games to get him used to it.
The Mets are expected to have a bullpen of Bobby Parnell as closer, setup man Jose Valverde, primary lefty Scott Rice, Jeurys Familia, Gonzalez Germen, Carlos Torres and John Lannan.
