Mets Rumors: Orioles and Pirates remain trade possibilities for Ike Davis
According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post, Ike Davis remains of interest to the Orioles as they continue to try to land a slugger who will work mainly as a DH.
Baltimore who wants to avoid expending another draft pick and significant dollars can try and trade for Ike Davis, who clearly intrigues the organization and makes only $3.5 million this year.
According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Pirates still remain a trade possibility for Ike Davis at First base. The Pirates have internal options at first base which include Andrew Lambo, Gaby Sanchez, Chris McGuiness, and nonroster invitee Travis Ishikawa.
If Ike Davis was acquired by Pittsburgh, he would compliment Gabby Sanchez as a part of a platoon...
Pirates GM Neal Huntington said: "That doesn't stop us from looking elsewhere. It’s just that now, our bar has been set a little bit higher, as to 'How do we make the club better?' And 'How do we make the club better at the right situation for us?' … If there's something that makes us better, and makes sense for us, we'll still look to do that."
