Mets Rumors: Mets will only go one year on SS Stephen Drew

Mets Rumors:

In a report from Andy Martino of the Ny Daily News, the Mets will only go one year on a contract for SS Stephen Drew.

The thought process of the Mets is they do not want to commit more than one year because the shortstop market will have a numerous amounts of free agents in 2015 that they could upgrade at that position. Some available next winter would include Asdrubal Cabrera, Yunel Escobar, Jed Lowrie and Hanley Ramirez..

Drew's agent Scott Boras wants the Mets to get in a bidding war with the Boston Red Sox, but the Mets are not biting.

The Mets will only sign Drew on their terms and according to reports, if the Mets do acquire him they would not have to shed payroll to keep him on the roster.
