Mets Rumors: Mets Still Looking for Ike Davis Suitors
The Mets are looking to potential Ike Davis suitors.... The Rays, Brewers, Pirates, Astros, Orioles and Rockies have reportedly all been connected to Davis or Duda this winter.
Andy Martino of the Ny Daily News says the Rays and Mets still matchup as source said "Still, a Mets-Rays trade remains a "possibility," in the words of one person involved in talks". Tampa Bay continues to show some level of interest, though talks have not become serious.
The Mets need a shortstop, but Yunel Escobar’s name has not come up, and the Rays are unlikely to move him.
Additionally, Milwaukee has shown renewed interest in Davis. Back at the GM meetings last month, the teams talked briefly, but nothing came of it. Now, according to a source, the Brewers are back in it. Milwaukee is also talking to Corey Hart about returning.
First Base Market is taking shape first with Logan Morrison in most of the talks:
The Rays are not close to acquiring Morrison, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post (on Twitter). Sherman takes the report a step further noting that the Rays never engaged the Marlins on Morrison.
ESPN's Jayson Stark tweets that the Marlins are telling other clubs they will trade Morrison shortly. Stark again lists the Rays as a possibility.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweets that interest in Morrison is picking up and adds the Brewers and Blue Jays to the list of interested parties (Twitter link).
The Pirates' interest in Morrison is "mild" at this point, according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (Twitter link). Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports tweets that the Rays are also interested in Morrison.
Of Course, all losers of the Morrison sweepstakes would try a get Ike Davis...So the Mets might have to wait.. The Pirates are most likely not interested in Ike Davis..
