Mets News: Mets Resign Pitcher Jeremy Hefner to minor league deal


Mets News:


The Mets have resigned starter Jeremy Hefner to a minor league deal. Hefner was non-tendered last month with four other players.

He will likely miss all of 2014 recovering from Tommy John surgery, but will be able to rehab at the Mets facilities with his new deal.

In 12 starts between May 13 and July 12, Hefner went 4-2 with a 2.71 ERA, allowing 22 earned runs, 16 walks and seven home runs with 57 strikeouts in 73 innings.

Overall, last season, he posted a 4.34 ERA and 1.293 WHIP, with 99 strikeouts, over 130 2/3 innings in 23 starts.
