Mets Rumors: Mets looking at possible trades for power bat, maybe three-way deal?
The Mets according to multiple sources are still interested in a power bat in the outfield. The Mets are still in the Frey for outfielders Curtis Granderson and Nelson Cruz., but both will demand high salaries and multiple years. So both might end up with other clubs.
So the next best solution is the trade market. According to Matt Cerrone of Metsblog.com, the Mets have been in talks with teams and there has been mention that the Mets could get creative and could venture into a possible three way deal.
According to Andy Martino of the NY Daily News, the Mets are not likely to part with any prospect starting pitching which includes Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero, both seem to be on the fast track to the majors.
That leaves the Mets with trade alternatives like Travis d'Arnaud, Lucas Duda, Ike Davis, Daniel Murphy, Wilmer Flores, and even Ruben Tejada..
The Mets could use Travis d'Arnaud as a main pawn in trade discussions as many teams scramble to get catching help and might yield a large return. They can even use Daniel Murphy (I'm not for it) who might have some value and bundle him with one of the first baseman. Wilmer Flores is interesting case as he does not have a regular position on the team and remains one of the Mets top prospects.
Who the Mets are looking at remains a mystery, but I am sure soon we will hear the rumors and names start popping up...
David Wright, who is in regular contact with the front office, hinted at action Tuesday on the Mike Lupica show. “I think Sandy has got a plan in place and I think he's got a few tricks up his sleeve starting at the winter meetings,” Wright said.
Lets Go Mets - Happy Turkey Day!
