LaTroy Hawkins, who saved 13 games for the Mets in 2013, agreed to terms Monday on a one-year, $2.5 million deal with a team option to be the Rockies closer next season. The Mets were interested in bringing the veteran righthander back, but according to a source, the Rockies’ offer “blew away” an offer the Mets made.
Hawkins, who will be 41 next month, will get $2.5 million guaranteed next year and either $2.25 million or a $250,000 buyout in 2015, according to a source.
The deal is pending a physical, which is scheduled for Thursday, according sources.
