The Mets have many holes to fill, The Mets need a shortstop and multiple outfielders to start to compose a more offensively build machine in 2014.
Matt Cerrone of Mets Blog lists Free-agents SS Stephen Drew, SS Jhonny Peralta and OF Nelson Cruz on the Mets radar this off-season.
Also in reports, A's SS Jed Lowrie might be available in trade. And, the Mets will keep tabs on Dodgers outfielders Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp and as well as the Rockies status of SS Troy Tulowitzki, OF Carlos Gonzalez and OF Michael Cuddyer.
So far from multiple reports, Rockies owners says the Rockies will not trade Tulo or Cargo this off-season. And for the curious who want Giancarlo Stanton in the Mets Outfield. The Marlins Owner Jeffery Loria has said recently that they plan on building around Mr. Stanton and he is off limits Right Now!
People have been commenting that they would like Shin-Soo Choo as I think the Mets would be better of getting some one else.
The Mets seemed impressed by the power of Cuban defector 1B Jose Daniel Abreu. That would leave Davis as a trade candidate and could mean the Duda could have a bench role or demoted to again minors..
The Mets can try and bring back either Marlon Byrd or Carlos Beltran which has been reported. Also, John Buck could get a reprieve if he wants to backup d'Arnaud.
The Mets need innings eater and a top line starter next season with the subtraction of Matt Harvey. They can try to trade for David Price which would cost them many prospects. The Mets could offer a contract to free agent Ricky Nolasco , who the Mets like. When the Mets and Marlins were engaged in very preliminary chatter about Giancarlo Stanton last spring, they tossed around Nolasco’s name, too, according to the NY Daily News.
