Marlon Byrd is one of three finalists for the Players Choice Award for NL Comeback Player of the Year as voted upon by his peers.
The other finalists: Now-Pirates teammate Francisco Liriano and Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
Byrd hit a combined .291 with a career-high 24 homers and 88 RBIs between the Mets and Pirates.
He has talked with Mets general manager Sandy Alderson about his interest in re-signing in New York:
"I've talked to Sandy, I told him thank you for the opportunity at the beginning of the year and thank you for the opportunity to play for a winner. I told him, ‘If you want me back, I would love to come back.'"
"No questions asked, I loved my time there. I loved the staff, I loved the players, I loved the city. There is not one negative thing I could say about the organization."
