Preview:The New York Mets are trying to conclude this 11-game homestand with five wins in seven games after being swept by Washington in a four-game set.
Jonathan Niese (7-7, 3.88 ERA) could help since he's 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA in seven starts since returning from a partially torn left rotator cuff. The left-hander has been particularly impressive in three home games, going 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA.
Niese is 1-1 with a 3.10 ERA in three career starts versus the Giants. He last faced them Aug. 1, 2012, when he allowed one run in seven innings of a 2-1 road win.
San Francisco will counter Niese with Madison Bumgarner (12-9, 2.83), one of the club's most consistent starters.
The left-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 18 straight starts, San Francisco's longest such streak since Tim Lincecum went 19 games from Aug. 16, 2007-June 11, 2008.
He got plenty of help in his only visit to Citi Field on April 23, 2012, allowing one run and three hits in seven innings of a 7-2 victory.
Gregor Blanco has been superb at the plate during a seven-game hitting streak, going 12 for 23 (.522) with five RBIs and five runs. He had a two-run homer Wednesday, but he's just 1 for 6 versus Niese.
Buster Posey is 4 for 8 with two doubles and a homer off the Mets starter, but he's 1 for 17 while the Giants are 3-2 on this 10-game road trip.
