Mets pitcher Matt Harvey will attempt to rehab his right elbow for a month or two rather than undergo Tommy John surgery, according to a Mets.com report.
That plan does not preclude Harvey from eventually undergoing surgery on the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow.
The Mets, who have not commented on the report, expect to address Harvey's situation at length Tuesday afternoon.
Harvey received a second opinion Monday on his elbow from Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla. He was 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA and 191 strikeouts in 26 starts prior to his injury.
