According to Jorge Castillo of the Star Ledger, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Wally Backman will likely be invited back as the organization’s Triple-A manager for the 2014 season.
“I would expect he certainly would be invited back in some capacity and presumably as the manager in Las Vegas,” Alderson said Monday afternoon. “There’s no reason not to do that.”
Backman led the affiliate in Las Vegas, considered the toughest destination in Triple-A, to an 81-63 record and a division title in the Pacific Coast League. They were eliminated in the first round.
Alderson added that Backman would be a consideration if there is a vacancy on the Mets’ coaching staff this offseason.
The Ny Post Reported, that Backman could leave the position if Collins was offered another term with the team..
When will the Backman Drama End??
