Commentary: Please, No Choo in 2014 Mets Outfield

Commentary:

First off, Hunter Pence will remain with the San Francisco Giants on a five-year, $90 million deal. I think he would of been ideal in a Mets uniform. We can dream...

Now that Pence is off the board, Scott Boras has other clients who happen to play the outfield and are free agents,  namely Shin-Soo Choo and Jacoby Ellsbury.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, the Mets are believed to be only interested in Choo. And they are unlikely to bid more than the deal that Boras obtained for Michael Bourn last offseason (four years).

According to CBS writer Jon Heyman, Shin-Soo Choo could get $90 million to $100 million via the free-agent market this winter.

But is this guy really worth it? No Way!!! This Guy averages 146 K's in the lead-off slot. Not what the Mets need.

When I look at numbers,  I also take into consideration on where their playing and Cincinnati is a band-box.  Though, he is a gap hitter that hits doubles and averages 38 a season, but his homers and overall numbers might dramatically change in Big-Citi. The Ny Press and City could also have a negative effect on him as well.

When I look at free agents, I still say the Mets Might have to lay out the red carpet for Jacoby Ellsbury (Call Me Crazy). The Mets need a legitimate lead-off hitter with speed and if the Mets can get Ellsbury to convert to LF, the Mets will have a good start to rebuilding this club with Lagares in centerfield. In order to make this possible, Lagares might have to move to the corners which the Mets might not want to do.

If you look at the evidence above, the Mets will have a .300 hitter that can steal you 40-50 bases. Will it cost the Mets Money, of course. But he would definitely help replace what they lost in Reyes.

And of Course, if they can get either Carlos Gonzalez or Troy Tulowitzki in this lineup in 2014, the Mets can contend.

This is the off-season I hope the Mets make a slam dunk and can bring glory back to Queens, while the Yankees can bring wheelchairs to Bronx..
