Mets News:According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, Wilmer Flores has been promoted to the major league club.
It will be a great day for the young prospect as he will be celebrating his 22nd Birthday in a Major League Uniform at Citi Field.
Flores played a full game Monday night for Triple-A Las Vegas, going 1-for-5 with a double and run scored in the 51s' 5-2 win at Memphis.
Flores began the game at first base and shifted to third base in the sixth inning. It was his third straight game making an appearance at the hot corner and fourth time this season.
Flores hit .321 with 15 homers and 86 RBIs in Triple-A this season. A natural shortstop, he had been moved off the position last season and primarily had played second base in 2013.
Bobby Parnell is expected to land on the disabled list. That would restore the Mets' bench to five players. It also would allow Terry Collins not to have to shift Daniel Murphy to third base and Eric Young Jr. to second base.
