According to a very good team source, the Mets might be willing to move 1B Ike Davis if the Mets get the right return back.. Ike Davis' status with the Mets has been up in the air since the arrival of Josh Satin.
According to the source, the Mets brass has been delighted with Satin's play so much, they would be willing to deal him or at least explore their possibilities..
Ike Davis situation with the Mets is very unclear and has been kept very quiet. A club source said the Mets a week or so ago had set July 3 as a logical call-up date for Davis, as it would coincide with a string of righthanded starters they expect to face at home against the Diamondbacks and then for three games in Milwaukee.
Now they may be re-thinking the timing. Collins said on Tuesday that there will be much to discuss “in the next 24 hours” with GM Sandy Alderson, apparently because Satin has given them reason to ponder whether they’d be better off giving Davis more time in Triple-A to get comfortable with the changes he has made in his swing.
The Mets seem to think he’s made progress, but they’re trying to keep the details quiet. On Tuesday Triple-A manager Wally Backman said he couldn’t offer a progress report, making it clear the organization preferred it that way.
All I know, being a Mets Fan, anything can happen...STAY TUNED!
