Mets News: Justin Turner not activated from DL, Rehab moved to Brooklyn
Infielder Justin Turner (intercostal strain) will not be activated for Friday's game and will instead continue his rehab with Class A Brooklyn, the Mets announced on twitter.
There had been speculation the Mets would activate Turner's for Friday game, but he will spend at least one more day in the minors. He has played six rehab games already, batting 6-for-20. He went 1-for-4 on Thursday for Double-A Binghamton.
With Turner staying in the minors, the Mets have just four backup position players on their roster, compared to eight relievers. When Turner comes back, which is likely this weekend, he will give the team the preferred amount of bench players.
Turner has been on the disabled list retroactive to June 17. He is batting .266 with six RBIs in 44 games.
