Mets Minor League Roundup 7/4: Danny Muno hits 2 HR's for Binghamton

Mets Minor League Roundup 7/4:

AAA - TUCSON 6, LAS VEGAS 5: Jacob deGrom hit his first speed bump in Triple-A, allowing six runs in five innings. The 51s (45-40) clawed to within a run on Brandon Hicks' two-out solo homer in the ninth. Mike Baxter started for the first time since returning from paternity leave. Ruben Tejada went 0-for-5. Box

AA - BINGHAMTON 7, NEW HAMPSHIRE 6: Daniel Muno had two homers and a career-high seven RBIs and Cesar Puello ended Binghamton's victory by throwing out the potential tying run at the plate. Muno belted a game-tying grand slam in the fifth and gave the B-Mets the lead for good with a three-run shot an inning later. His RBI total fell one shy of the Binghamton-record eight produced by Jorge Toca against Reading on June 25, 1999. It was Muno's first career multi-homer game. B-Mets starter Logan Verrett surrendered four runs (three earned) in the third and departed with two outs in his shortest pro outing. Jim Fuller (2-0) took over and retired all 11 Fisher Cats he faced, including a stretch of six consecutive via strikeout. Fuller retired Ryan Schimpf to start the seventh before handing off to John Church to close out the scoreless frame. The Fisher Cats took advantage of two misplays to scratch out a run in the eighth. Andy Burns reached to start the frame on a dropped third strike by Blake Forsythe and moved to second on a single. After Pedro Feliciano entered with one out, Clint Robinson bounced a potential double-play grounder to second. Muno flipped to Wilfredo Tovar for one, but the relay throw to first skipped away, allowing Burns to score. Feliciano returned for the ninth and struck out Schimpf. Jeff Walters took over with one out and fell into trouble. Brian Van Kirk singled and Jon Talley doubled. Walters bounced back to strike out Adam Loewen for the second out. With the tying run on second, Burns singled into right field. Van Kirk scored easily from third, but pinch-runner Kevin Ahrens was gunned down by Puello to end the game as Forsythe hung on after a collision. Walters earned his league-leading 22nd save. Puello’s outfield assist was his team-leading sixth. Box

A+ - ST. LUCIE 3, JUPITER 2: Kevin Plawecki’s go-ahead RBI groundout in the sixth scored Jayce Boyd and the Mets (43-37) held off Jupiter. The Mets pushed across two runs in the second to jump to a lead. Matt Reynolds' sacrifice fly scored Dustin Lawley. Charley Thurber’s two-out single plated Plawecki to make it 2-0. The Hammerheads tied the score in the third on Christian Yelich's two-run homer. Hansel Robles allowed two runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings while issuing two walks and fanning five in his return from the disabled list. The Hammerheads had the bases loaded with one out in the fifth before Chasen Bradford retired the final two batters to escape the jam. Bradford tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out two to earn his sixth win. Bret Mitchell added two scoreless innings. T.J. Chism retired the side in order in the ninth with two strikeouts for his 10th save. Box
