Mets Minor League Roundup 7/22:


AAA - LAS VEGAS 7, RENO 2: Jordany Valdespin is certainly trying to make a statement to Mets management. The emotionally troubled player went 1 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI's. He is now batting .455 since being sent down. Zach Lutz also drove in two. Giancarlo Alvarado started the game went six solid innings giving up six hits, two runs, and two walks , while striking out four. Other players of note: Ruben Tejada (.315) went 1 for 3 with two runs scored. Matt den Dekker (.222) went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI. Box

AA - READING 5, BINGHAMTON 4 (7 innings): Binghamton tied the score with four runs in the fifth, but Sebastian Valle hit a solo homer in the sixth against Logan Verrett in what became a rain-shortened victory for Reading. Trailing 4-0 in the fifth with two outs against Reading starter Seth Rosin, Daniel Muno blooped a hit into left-center. After Josh Rodriguez walked, Cesar Puello put the B-Mets on the scoreboard with an RBI single. The highlight of the inning came next for Binghamton, as Allan Dykstra tied the score with a three-run homer. The B-Mets were held scoreless in the bottom of the sixth. Rain then halted the game in the seventh. Verrett (9-5) allowed a season-high three homers. Darrell Ceciliani went 3-for-3, extending his hitting streak to 15 games. Dykstra leads the B-Mets with 18 homer. Verrett has allowed 18 homers, which is the second most in the Eastern League. Box

A - SAVANNAH 4, DELMARVA 2 (13 innings): Eudy Pina's triple plated Maikis De La Cruz with the tiebreaking run in the 13th and Cole Frenzel added an RBI single for a two-run cushion. Wanel Mesa earned the win after tossing three scoreless relief innings. Frenzel finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Starter Jake Kuebler allowed two runs (one earned) in 6 2/3 innings. Box

RK - PRINCETON 9, KINGSPORT 3: Starter Andres Perez allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings. Amed Rosario, the 17-year-old who signed out of Venezuela for $1.75 million last summer, homered in the loss. Richie Rodriguez added a ninth-inning homer. Box

SS - BATAVIA 2, BROOKLYN 0: Cyclones starter Carlos Valdez allowed two runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Akeel Morris pitched a season-high 4 1/3 innings in relief, allowing two hits and striking out six in a scoreless effort. The Cyclones mustered only two hits, both by Jared King. King is hitting .458 (11-for-24) during his current six-game hitting streak. Box

RK - GCL CARDINALS 9, GCL METS 8 (14 innings): Waldo Rodriguez surrendered a game-deciding two-out RBI single in the top of the 14th after a walk and balk. The Mets had evened the score with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, on Brian Harrison's sacrifice fly and Wuilmer Becerra's RBI single. Relievers Gaither Bumgardner, Ramon Estevez and Cameron Griffin combined for 6 2/3 scorless relief innings. Box
