Mets Injury Report 7/11: Turner, Duda, Francisco, d'Arnaud, Byrdak, Feliciano, Atchison
Justin Turner (intercostal muscle strain) has started hitting off a tee and soft-tossing.
Lucas Duda (intercostal muscle strain) has started outdoors activities, but is not yet swinging a bat.
Frank Francisco (elbow) continues to have a nebulous issue in which doctors cannot detect any structural damage. "You're guess is as good as mine," Collins said about when Francisco might return to the Mets.
Travis d'Arnaud (broken foot) is not yet running full throttle. D'Arnaud has experienced some "discomfort" since beginning running on regular ground, but the Mets believe that is normal and not an indication of a setback.
Tim Byrdak, who is returning from shoulder surgery, has yet to throw back-to-back days with Class A St. Lucie. Collins said Byrdak and Pedro Feliciano both have the same issue: They do not sustain their velocity over multiple starts, which they will need to demonstrate before being a consideration for the major league club.
Scott Atchison will be activated from the disabled list and join the Mets when the team resumes play after the All-Star break next Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.
Atchison landed on the DL with a groin injury, which he suffered while throwing warm-up pitches in Atlanta on June 18. He had missed the previous month with an elbow bone-spur issue that was causing tingling and numbness in his fingers.
Atchison has made two rehab appearances in the past week with the Gulf Coast League Mets.
