Mets Rumors:The Mets held a question-and-answer session with 350 season ticket-holders Saturday morning at Citi Field, and general manager Sandy Alderson said the team will be capable of adding substantial pieces soon, and the need for patience is almost over.
“I believe in the next six months or so, we’ll be in position to make some significant acquisitions, either by free agency or trade,” Alderson said. “It’s going to be up to us to make the right [decisions]. We’re working at it.
“Problem is, that at some point the best thing you can do is have a little patience. I’ve been preaching that for the past couple of years and I know it’s wearing thin. But we’re almost there.”
Besides Alderson, the 45-minute Q&A featured manager Terry Collins, pitchers Matt Harvey, Bobby Parnell and Dillon Gee, and catcher John Buck. Alderson was also asked whether he would consider trading prospects for a top hitter such as the Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton.
“That opportunity has never arisen,” the GM said. “When it does, we’ll address it.”
