Mets News: LHP Jack Leathersich promoted to Triple-A

Mets News:

Left-handed reliever Jack Leathersich, who has racked up gaudy strikeout totals during his professional career, has been promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Las Vegas.

A fifth-round pick in 2011 from UMass-Lowell, the 5-foot-11 Leathersich was 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA and three saves in 24 relief appearances for the B-Mets. In 29 1/3 innings, he has struck out a whopping 55 batters, albeit while walking 16 and surrendering 19 hits.

Leathersich, 22, does not have eye-popping velocity, generally sitting at 91-94 mph. Still, he has 194 strikeouts in 114 innings over three pro seasons as batters have difficulty picking up the baseball.
