Mets News: Mets Sign Rick Ankiel, In Tonight's Lineup

Mets News:

Rick Ankiel is starting in center field on Monday night for the Mets.

Andrew Brown has been dispatched to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Terry Collins said the lefty-hitting Ankiel and righty-hitting Juan Lagares will platoon in center field. That's a blow to Jordany Valdespin, who Collins said may play some second base if Daniel Murphy continues to struggle.

The Mets hope a change of scenery will help Ankiel, as it did at least initially with John Buck.

Ankiel has missed on 42 percent of his swings this season -- worst in MLB and 10 points higher than Josh Hamilton, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
