Mets News: Matt Harvey lands on the cover of Sports Illustrated
Matt Harvey is on the cover of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated.
The Mets righthander was the National League pitcher for the month of April with historic numbers. He started the season 4-0 with a 1.56 ERA, striking out 46 in 40-1/3 innings..
With the Mets lethargic offense, however, Harvey has suffered no-decisions in his last four starts.
In the profile, written by Tom Verducci, Harvey says of his expectations for himself: "“I want to be that guy when they know you’re starting against them, they go, ‘Oh, crap.’”
Harvey also reveals that pitching coach Dan Warthen told him he'd have a shot at winning 17 games if he threw 210 innings this season (he's on pace for 232-1/3). The 24-year-old responded that he'd win 20 games if he logged that many innings. Got to Love Harvey!
