Mets Minor League Roundup 5/25: Familia and Atchison pitch scoreless frames in rehab relief

Mets Minor League Roundup 5/25:

BINGHAMTON 3, PORTLAND 2:: The Binghamton Mets scored the game-winning run on a Portland throwing error in the bottom of the 10th to beat the Sea Dogs 3-2 Saturday night. Danny Muno scored the winning run. Portland’s only offense against B-Met starter Logan Verrett came in the third inning and he retired the final 13 batters he faced. His night ended after seven innings, and he struck out nine hitters in a no-decision. Binghamton’s offense was held scoreless for the first seven innings of the game. Muno walked to lead off the eighth inning, and Josh Rodriguez hit an opposite field home run to tie the game. One night after receiving a loss, Jeff Walters returned to the mound and threw two scoreless innings. The B-Met closer picked up the first Double-A win of his career.Box.

SAVANNAH 2, AUGUSTA 1: SS Phillip Evans sent the Augusta GreenJackets packing with an electrifying game-winning gap hit to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Gnats defeated the GreenJackets 2-1.There were fireworks on and off the field Saturday night beginning with four scoreless innings from Savannah RHP Jake Kuebler in his first start on the season. The GreenJackets managed to score a run in the sixth inning off of reliever RHP Marco Camarena in his first appearance of the season with the Gnats. Camarena finished with four innings pitched allowing four hits, while striking out three. Savannah rallied in the ninth. Catcher Jeff Glenn singled to tie the game. Savannah RHP Tyler Vanderheiden earned his third win of the season. Box.

ST. LUCIE 1, BRADENTON 0: Angel Cuan pitched seven scoreless innings and three Mets pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout as the Mets defeated Bradenton 1-0 on Saturday. Cuan pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out nine. Jeurys Familia retired the side in order in the eighth with one strikeout and Scott Atchison pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning with one strikeout to close the game. Familia and Atchison were both on major league rehab assignments. Albert Cordero had a two-out, RBI single to right to score Dustin Lawley in the second.Box
