Mets Game Notes:

METS AT A GLANCE: The Mets have lost a season-high five straight games...The last time the Mets had a longer losing streak was a six game skid from September 10-15, 2011...New York is 3-7 in its last 10 games...New York suffered its fifth walkoff loss of the year last night and its second this season at Washington (Also, June 5 in a 7-6, 12-inning setback)...The Mets are 1-3 in extra innings this year.

ON THE ROAD: New York is 20-24 on the road this year...The Mets are 0-4 on their current six-game road trip and 7-7 in their last 14 games away from Citi Field...David Wright leads the majors with a .378 road batting average...The Mets are 6-8 in road series this season and 13-14-2 in overall series.

ROAD RUNS: The Mets have scored 223 runs in 44 road games, for an average of 5.07 runs per road game, the highest in the majors...New York has a .268 road batting average, the highest in the National League and the fourth-highest in the majors...New York has allowed 226 runs on the road, for an average of 5.14, the fourth most in the majors.

JORDANY VALDESPIN: Hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the ninth inning last night...Valdespin has three pinch-hits in his brief career, all have been home runs...According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only three other players who began their career since 1960, have had their first three pinch-hits all go for home runs: Brant Alyea, Bo Jackson and Matt Mieske...Valdespin is the only hitter in the majors this season with two go-ahead pinch-hit home runs in the ninth inning or later...Also, the last time the Mets were down 2-0 in the ninth inning and got a three-run home run to go ahead was Mike Piazza on September 16, 1998 at Houston...Research courtesy of ESPN.



PINCH-HIT HOME RUNS: Valdespin has three pinch-hit home runs this year which is tied for third-most in a single season in team history...Mark Carreon (1989) and Danny Heep (1983) each had four pinch-hit home runs...The last Met to have three pinch-hit home runs in a season was Scott Hairston, who accomplished the feat last year.

RUBEN TEJADA: Has hit in six straight games, going 9-27 (.333) with three RBI...Tejada has also reached base safely in each of his last 11 games and in 15 of his last 16 games...Tejada is batting .351 (27-77) with 13 runs scored in 18 games since returning from the 15-Day Disabled List on June 24...Tejada is hitting .319 (58-182) with 27 runs scored, 14 doubles and 15 RBI in 45 games...Mets shortstops hit .248 (35-141) with 11 RBI during Tejada’s absence (43 games).

ANDRES TORRES: Has hit in each of the four games since the All-Star break with an RBI in three of those games...Torres is batting .500 (7-14) during this stretch.

JOSH THOLE: Since July 3, Josh Thole is hitting .357 (10-28) with four runs scored, two doubles and two RBI..He has raised his batting average to .276 from .262.

ONE-RUN GAMES: The Mets are 12-13 in one-run games, including 4-7 on the road in such games.

PITCHING NOTES: New York starting pitchers have pitched 6.0 innings or more in 21 of its last 26 games...Mets starters rank sixth in the majors with a 3.70 ERA.

BULLPEN: The Mets pen suffered two blown saves last night...The pen is tied for second in the majors with 16 blown saves...The relievers have posted a 5.00 ERA (134 earned runs/241.1 innings), the worst mark in the majors...The pen has 19 losses, the second-most in the majors.

RISP W/2 OUTS: The Mets are hitting .284 with runners in scoring position and two outs, the second-highest mark in the majors...David Wright leads the NL with a .400 (14-35) batting average with runners in scoring position and two outs...Ike Davis leads the majors with five home runs with runners in scoring position and two outs...Daniel Murphy is tied for the NL lead with Andre Ethier with 23 RBI with RISP and two outs.
