ESPN NY, Terry Collins said he is planning for Jason Bay to return from the disabled list for Tuesday's series opener in Washington, which will add to the outfield depth but also create challenges in terms of dividing up playing time.
The manager noted he will get a reprieve in filling out the lineup card when the Mets play six straight games in American League ballparks beginning Friday.
As for the outfield rotation against National League opponents, Collins will have to pretty much juggle Andres Torres, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Bay among left and center field. Collins suggested Scott Hairston could get starts in right field against southpaws at the expense of Lucas Duda. (Duda, with recent success, including homers against southpaws Cliff Lee and Raul Valdes in the same game, actually has upped his average against left-handed pitching to .283 this season, versus .246 against right-handers.)
